Excellent post!!!!! You make excellent sense -- as always. And so does Rain! My daughter, who decided long that she didn't wish to marry or reproduce (her words), once said in a discussion on same sex marriage that she felt that *everyone* should be able to "suffer the wrongs of marriage".

I can't wait to read the articles on same-sex divorce -- which will the next problem on magazine covers.

You make some good points. Marriage is the one that bugs me. Let people have their religious ceremonies as part of a wedding, but the government end of it is a business contract. Government has no right saying two adults cannot enter into it regardless of gender. I think it's a big issue and the right is winning on it because so many Americans don't use logic to figure out anything.

I agree but it turns out he got more delegates. He has a sneaky way of always coming out with the delegates even when the people who vote clearly don't prefer him... Likely how he got all his money too.

You did a really good job explaining our situation. I especially like the Pilgrim and Puritan comparison-- right on! Good idea on the military too. Too bad common sense isn't in common usage in government or the military. It's all about power. Americans need to take it back over by running and voting for people who can think and who say things like you just did.

AQ--I think it takes both: the demonstrator to get people to thinking and the honest-to-gosh candidate to run. Until/unless we put forth candidates with the best interest of all of the people at heart, we will continue to have office holders who are bought and paid for to do what's in the best interest of the affluent and big businesses.

I agree with you. I think the main answer is finding candidates to run for office for the goals which we believe are important. The tea party got power when they got enough of those with their beliefs to take over the House. We need to take it back with candidates who have progressive beliefs. The demonstrations are all very well but they don't vote or get rid of the leaders who are paying minimal (no more than they must) attention to this. We need to change who those leaders are. So we support those who support things like universal health care, concern for the environment, getting out of wars we have no business being in, using morality in our government which means we don't torture, supporting our returning soldiers, working on jobs, regulating Wall Street, fair taxation, and staying out of people's personal lives when their actions don't hurt others. etc etc etc.

Good to see you posting again!!!!!!!!! I tend to agree with you -- as usual! I'm 'occupying' as I can't think of a better way to get it across that we're tired of the irresponsible GOP and the people that have bought them.

Some interesting thoughts here. I certainly agree with most and fail to understand how the Supreme Court could interpret a corporation to be considered the same as an individual. I've long said if we the people want change it must start at the local level -- school boards, city officials to county to state, board of supervisors, etc. So, why don't more people vote during those elections and on off years? If there is unhappiness and anger enough stirred up from these "Occupy ... " events to cause individuals to actively initiate more involvement in the governmental system, they may be worth it. The current primary political parties aren't going to make the needed changes based on their track records and current behaviors.
