Whatever Happened to What’s-His-Name

I am inclined by nature to simply resume posting; however, I do feel that some acknowledgment of my prolonged “absence” is called for. The thing is that I feel a need to “shift gears,” so to speak.

Things that I might have spoken to last year seem so far beyond control now that I can’t see the point. I am mindful of the words of Martin Niemoller in 1946; but in this instance I feel that I have spoken out again and again for years, and, now that they are coming for us, there is little if anything new to say that might move them to reconsider. I’m disappointed in the direction America has chosen; but we live in a democratic republic, and I am committed to the process. America has spoken, and what will be will be.

As an individual, I feel extraordinarily fortunate. For so long as it lasts, I am living the life I wished for . I am doing as much with Red Cross Disaster Services as I had hoped to do; and I’m able to do some driving for a local no-kill animal shelter, taking the dogs and the occasional cat to and from their vet appointments, etc. I think I’ll try to be more appreciative of these gifts, the good people I associate with and the work.
