Getting a little bored with the bickering after the election last week.
I understand that people in a number of states are petitioning for secession. One might wonder how committed those folks were to America in the first place that they would so readily abandon her now. Over the years, I obeyed the lawful orders of any number of people I voted or would have voted against, and a few who I wouldn’t have trusted to park my car; that’s life in a democratic republic.
On the other hand, we have the folks who want to bill the neo-fascists for the money spent countering their screeds, and that’s just a little bit nuts, too. I gave Obama my hundred bucks and I don’t want it back; let it go.
For the next two years, to the extent that I get political, I want to work with potential local candidates to persuade them to avoid identifying as either a Democrat or a Republican but to represent me and my fellow constituents in preference to any partisan group, and to speak to the issues. Anti-Obama ads in a campaign for County Commissioner really piss me off.
